A Blessed Weekend

What a whirlwind weekend. It's Friday, and I'm barely catching breath...whew! On May 16, Joey celebrated a big milestone in his life, getting ordained:

Some of our cousins flew all the way from Seattle!

I didn't know what to expect, but the service was actually very meaningful, touching, and a blessing.

I started reminiscing to when I first met Joey, & how he has spiritually impacted my life since our college days.
At the end, Joey gave his response...and all us Oh women were in tears. There's only one other time that Joey has gotten this *ahem* emotional during a talk, & that was the last weekend before he left for Andrews. It was definitely a personally stirring moment for him.

The very next day, our sisters & friends threw us a baby shower! My dear friend Jeannie drove out from Vegas to plan this event as well.

My cousin-in-law, Sonia, is expecting a baby girl too, just 2 months after us!

Fruit tart from Porto's, my fave!

It's finally starting to feel "real", that a baby's coming.

Sneak peak--the favors, which hadn't arrived in time for the shower
I show you these next two (not very good) photos, so you can see the homemade gifts we received, two knit sweaters!
I got chills opening them. They both put my sweater to shame!
We are lucky to have these people in our lives!
We finished off the weekend in Ktown, with a dinner with our families
Did you see my other sis Jen? She flew down from SF too.

Coffee & ppat-bing-soo nightcap

Thank you everyone who came down to be with us this weekend, for all your hard work, and sharing these special events with us. We love you!

My First Sweater

I'm in a foul mood today. I'm assuming it's the pregnancy hormones? Please let this be the reason. I can't think of another reason why. Good thing no one's home right now, I'm liable to snap off their head.

In other news...

I've been taking knitting lessons (a Christmas present from Joey). Below, my first sweater for Baby Oh.

All it needs is a purple ribbon...

Mood Check: Arghh

I don't normally like to use this blog as a place to vent, but today I need to vent. Arghh.

Several weeks ago, I was in a minor car accident. I hit a car going 40 mph. But it was completely unavoidable b/c the other guy ran a red light.

We got out & exchanged information. He apologized & asked 'did I think the damages would be less than $100 & could he pay out of pocket?'

I answered 'no', & assumed this meant he was assuming responsibility for the accident.

Fast-forward to today. After $1300 in damages to my car, there is a hold up in the whole insurance matter because 'the other party is contesting liability.'

What?!

I'm incredulous that there are people like this out there. The silver lining in all this, however, is that I have 2 witnesses who saw the whole thing. This older couple stopped in the middle of their busy day, just to tell me they saw the whole thing, and if I needed them, to please have my insurance call them.

I can't help but get frustrated, and feel duped, however. I was too trusting & didn't call the police in the first place. I'm having trouble wishing 'brotherly love' towards this person right now.

Arghh.

Pregnancy, Week 30

Some thoughts at Week 30...

~There's something about pregnancy that makes you want to 'get all your ducks in a row.' If you've been meaning to cross off your TO DO list, accomplish some of your New Year's Resolutions, see your dentist or pick up 2-year old wedding pictures....then I suggest you get pregnant. It did wonders for me;).

~I thought I'd be more vain about being pregnant as well as bothered by people feeling the belly. However, neither has happened. I never liked my waistline in the first place, so I've been welcoming the growing belly.

~The swelling and sausage feet has begun. Thankfully, my sister gave me several packs of compression stockings. My mother suggested I wear them OUT, during the DAY. Haha--have you seen these things?! Turns out, my vanity is still in place.

~Joey & I've each brought a name to the table. But like my cousin-in-law G.O. says, "I get more vetoes!!" Hmm, do you know this Joey?;)

~For being 10 weeks away from "mommy & daddy", the maternal thing/instinct/reality hasn't sunk in yet. I still make choices that are more for me than for the baby. Joey & I just attended 4 hours of Infant Care & Breastfeeding classes, but I still don't feel "ready." How do you know when you're ready to be a parent? And a GOOD parent at that. Hmm....lots of praying still to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Project Baby Crib

Joey & I've been the lucky recipients of many baby hand-me-downs from relatives, church members, and friends. Here's a crib that was handed down to us, minus a little paint here & there.

I wanted to work on this project myself, but counldn't find a conclusive answer on breathing paint fumes when pregnant. So...here you go Joey!!:)
